Aviator is legal in Malawi under a MAGLA licence, and the online framework is new

The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority opened a dedicated online licensing process in June 2026. Operators licensed under it are lawful; the framework being recent means the register is the only reliable check.

What it means in practice

  • Betika states MAGLA licensing explicitly, which is the level of specificity to expect.
  • Because the online process is new, some operators visible in Malawi are licensed elsewhere and reaching in.
  • Predictor search demand is unusually high here relative to population, and the results are almost entirely scams.

Checking an operator yourself

  • Find the MAGLA licence reference on the operator site.
  • Check it against the MAGLA register.
  • Where no MAGLA reference exists, treat the operator as unlicensed locally.

What legality does not change

A licence gives you a regulator to complain to and audited game fairness. It does not change the maths. Aviator returns 97% at a licensed operator and 97% at an unlicensed one, so licensing protects you from being cheated beyond the published edge, not from the edge itself.
